guerilla art delivery #1

Hello! So I made my first guerilla art delivery Saturday at a local library here in Charlotte. I walked in holding my art tight and close to my chest. Nervously, I scoped the place out and it was actually quite crowded. It was impossible to find a place where there wasn't anyone in my direct line of sight, so I just had to go for it. I ended up that the package fit perfectly in front of all of the Garrison Keillor books. I quickly snapped my picture and then bolted down the stairs.

Once I was downstairs I felt giddy wondering who will find it, loving the idea that I will most likely not know who it is.

Our most recent Mondo Beyondo assignment is of similar nature. The first day we received this great collection of affirmations around our dreams and this weekend our mission is to put those same messages out into the world. It is a pleasure to put such love and hope out there for someone to find. I taped a few in places at the library and inserted some in books too.

I have always been fond of leaving random notes for my loved ones, but this is such a thrill!

guerilla art goodness

Hello + Happy Friday!

So lately I have been really inspired by the idea of guerilla art, which I first read about on Keri Smith's website. She has written a great article here about her experiences and offers inspiration to those who want to get out there and play! Most recently I have been joyfully following Christine Mason Miller's 100 Book Project.

The day before my Mondo Beyondo class started I was in my studio pondering my stack of art sitting in my closet that has been with me for some time now. The pieces have meaning to me as I made a lot of them when I was first starting out, just getting brave enough to create on a wood board or canvas. It doesn't fit for me to have some kind of clearance event on etsy to try and sell them, but I am ready to let go of them. What did come to mind was the thought of leaving individual pieces in random places throughout Charlotte! Nothing has felt SO exciting for a long time! I love the idea of letting go and trusting that they will end up in the right hands. There is also that fun, sneaky feeling too! It's also a demonstration for me to put a little more of myself and my art here in Charlotte.

So on Monday, I clicked on someone's twitter link and discovered this Kindess Girl's website. The specific post was about sidewalk messages aimed at kids returning to school that day, so awesome. Coincidence? I think not! That same day I went out and bought sidewalk chalk and wrote my own message. So fun!She has other stories of her "guerilla kindnesses" on her blog, my heart just fills up knowing there are people putting such love out to the universe.

I have 14 pieces total and I hope to document the process, stay tuned. I think there is a guerilla love movement going on!

Greetings and Happy Monday!

It feels so good to be back here, it has been a while. The last few weeks have been full of travel for me, which is something I am NOT used to at all. And I am actually headed back to TN next week as well to see some family, but I am hoping this week I will fill myself back up and feel grounded again. This most recent trip I went back to Minneapolis and had the thought that I wouldn't want to leave because I miss it so much. I had moments and spaces of time where I felt that way, but I was glad to come back to Charlotte. I feel that I am starting to build a life here and that there are things being taken care of "in the background" while I just do the next right good thing.

Speaking of good things, today is the first day of the Mondo Beyondo class! This is a class about dreaming big with other dreamers. I am so thrilled to be a part of this and have already met some cool people that live right here in Charlotte! Wow!!

There is such good energy going on there already. I am buzzing with excitement about some ideas I have around my art {I will spill about that soon}and how I want to expand my dreams and not just play it safe. I feel that that some neat things are being shifted, I feel hopeful.

How are you today?

Hello, Hello!

Did a week already go by, already? I have so much fun making mosiacs, I can get so lost in the choosing and rearranging!

So I have to say that I feel that I have been "in transition" for SO long. Many areas of my life remain unsettled to me. However, there are really good things happening too:

  • The goodheARTed website has been updated with many new talented lovelies, be sure to check it out!
  • I have had the pleasure of working on some new web projects that I will be able to reveal very soon.
  • This past Friday night, I had the pleasure of seeing Coldplay live for the second time. I love how conscious they are of the audience as they set up mini stages throughout the stadium to reach everyone they can. They are both genuine and generous, I love their energy on stage, they ROCK!
  • By chance shortly after I moved here I met two runners and they immediately welcomed me into their running group. They were all instrumental in helping me prepare for a half marathon that I finished last March. They are more than just a running group to me, I am SO grateful!
Other comforts have been good reads, bubble baths, vacations, cutting + pasting, a supportive husband, and good friends. What comforts you in times of transition and uncertainty?

{re}entering

Our trip to Wrightsville Beach was all about relaxation and slowing down for me. Which may be an obvious concept for most, but it felt foreign to me! For most of the week we sat at the beach, went for walks and bike rides, sat on the pier and grilled while watching the glorious sunsets.

I loved the place we stayed at, it was built in the 1900's and has been run by the same family since 1952. There are people who have been coming back year after year for most of their lives. I spent a lot of time on the wrap around porch in the hammock reading or on the porch swing. Just what my soul needed, I am so grateful I could do this.

What does your soul need today?
